PARIS, France — Former University of Alabama gymnasts Luisa Blanco and Shallon Olsen had standout performances in the Olympic Qualifications, securing spots in their respective Event Finals.
Blanco, competing in her first Olympics for Colombia, achieved a landmark score of 51.698 in the All-Around competition, securing her place in the Artistic Gymnastics final on Thursday, August 1. Her accomplishment marks a first for Colombian gymnastics, as Blanco becomes the first gymnast from her country to advance to an Olympic Artistic Gymnastics final.
Meanwhile, representing Canada, Olsen earned her spot in the vault final scheduled for Saturday, August 3. Olsen, a veteran Olympian appearing in her third consecutive Games, delivered a strong performance earning her a score of 14.166 and continuing her impressive Olympic journey.
