PARIS, France — Sunisa Lee, representing Auburn University and Team USA, mounted a remarkable comeback on Thursday, earning a bronze medal in the all-around final at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a score of 56.465. Lee clinched gold in the same event back at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Starting the competition in seventh place after the first rotation, Lee improved through the rounds, moving into contention following an impressive performance on the bars, where she scored 14.866, the second-highest of the day. She maintained her momentum on the beam, finishing with a score of 14.000, which tied her for fourth place.
Entering the final rotation, Lee needed a strong floor routine to secure a medal. With a score of 13.666, she beat Italy’s Alice D’Amato, securing the bronze medal position.
Simone Biles of the United States claimed the gold medal with an impressive score of 59.131, while Rebeca Andrade of Brazil took silver with 57.932.
Looking ahead, Lee will compete for gold in the uneven bars on August 4 and in the beam event on August 5.
