PARIS, France — Auburn's Sunisa Lee and Team USA delivered a standout performance, winning gold in the women's artistic gymnastics team competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Tuesday. Team USA led the competition from the start, finishing with a score of 171.296, nearly six points ahead of second-place Italy.
Lee competed in three events—bars, beam, and floor. The Americans opened with a strong 44.100 on vault, establishing an early lead. Lee anchored the bars with a team-best score of 14.566, contributing to a total of 43.332.
Lee began the final rotation on floor with a score of 13.533. Her teammates Jordan Chiles and Simone Biles followed, securing the gold medal for Team USA.
Next up for Lee is the women's all-around competition on Thursday, August 1, where she will defend her title. Lee will also aim for gold on the uneven bars on August 4 and on the beam on August 5.
