PARIS, France β€” One of basketball's all-time greats will have the honor of being a flag bearer for Team USA at the Paris Olympic Ceremony taking place later this week.

"Carrying a flag for the Red, White and Blue.  LEBRON JAMES has been named one of Team USA's flag bearers for Friday's #ParisOlympics Opening Ceremony," the NBC Olympics account posted on X.

USA Basketball also posted the moment that James, 39, learned he'd be a flag bearer.

"On behalf of the entire men's Olympic basketball team, we would like to nominate LeBron James to be the flag bearer for all of Team USA," one of James' NBA superstar contemporaries, Stephen Curry, said in the video.

The video further shows Curry addressing James in a team meeting.

"He got that honor so you get to wave the flag in Paris my man," Curry told him, with the rest of the team applauding.

The Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony will take place on Friday, July 26, with coverage beginning at noon ET with a preview show on 11Alive. The ceremony itself starts at 1:30 p.m. ET. NBC will then do an enhanced encore broadcast later that evening at 7:30 p.m. ET.
