KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — For the third time this season Tennessee football has advanced another spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, moving from No. 6 to No. 5 on Sunday afternoon. This new spot places the Vols' among the poll's top five teams.
The new rankings come after the Vols' Saturday win against the Oklahoma Sooners with a final game score of 25-15. Tennessee takes the spot previously held by Ole Miss, who beat the Georgia Southern Eagles 52-13 on Saturday.
Four teams now sit in front of UT in the rankings. Texas, Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama take the top four in that order, with Texas maintaining the first-place position it took last week over Georgia. For the third week in a row, the SEC continues to hold six of the poll's top seven spots.
On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Vols will travel out-of-state again to battle Arkansas for their fifth game of the season. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. ET and will be televised live by the SEC Network.
