BIRMINGHAM, Ala — The new United States Football League (USFL) will follow its historic inaugural weekend with a high-octane, Talladega-inspired NASCAR night on Saturday, April 23, at Protective Stadium, as the Birmingham Stallions (1-0) take on the Houston Gamblers (1-0), at 6:00 PM CT.
NASCAR Cup Series drivers Tyler Reddick and Ty Dillon, who will compete in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, will be on hand Saturday night to shake hands, sign autographs, and take photos with fans.
The driver of the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, Reddick, is running his second full season in the NASCAR Cup Series. He finished second last week at Bristol, his best finish of the season, and is currently 11th in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series standings. Dillon drives the No. 42 Petty GMS Motorsports Chevrolet in the Cup Series. He also finished in the top-10 last week at Bristol (10th), and it was his best finish this season.
Fans coming to Protective Stadium Saturday night to the Stallions-Gamblers game can also see and take photos with an official NASCAR Cup show car before the game and enter a contest to win tickets to the GEICO 500 on Sunday in Talladega. The show car will make a special on-field appearance during pregame festivities. In addition, there will be trivia contests with prizes, and kids may participate in the USFL’s unique on-field pregame experience, a weekly staple.
USFL gridiron action on Saturday begins at 11:00 AM CT at Protective Stadium as the Pittsburgh Maulers (0-1) take on the Philadelphia Stars (0-1), with each team looking to notch its first win of the young season.
General admission, premium, and reserved tickets are available at theUSFL.com. All USFL tickets are “single day” allowing entry/re-entry to all games played on any date. Adult general admission tickets for regular-season games are $10. In addition, each adult holding a general admission ticket can receive up to three free single-day tickets for children under 15.
Tailgating for USFL games is encouraged at the BJCC “Green” Parking Lot ($10 credit/debit only, no cash) on the corner of 11th Avenue North and 24th Street North on the east side of Protective Stadium.
