Earth Day is tomorrow; local school plants trees to celebrate.

Trees were planted in early celebration of Earth Day at Hazel Green Elementary School, and students were able to throw in some dirt themselves.

HAZEL GREEN, Ala. — The Madison County School District and Schneider Electric wanted to showcase their commitment to energy efficiency and preserving the environment for everyone.

Students stood around the unplanted trees while talking about earth day with the electric company.

Afterward, each student shoveled in some dirt so the trees could be planted.

"We are celebrating Earth Day with Madison County Schools, we've been a long-term partner of over 10 years and we've helped them achieve over 7 million dollars in energy and utility savings and that has also had a huge impact on the environment and really shows their initiative in sustainability. So, we wanna bring that to the kids as well and show them the importance of helping the environment," said Schneider Electric's Regional Client Coordinator, Madalena DeWitt.
