SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — Some traffic movement changes should be expected at U.S. 72 and Alabama 79 during the week of April 12 as the Alabama Department of Transportation works on safety modifications.

ALDOT said the contractor, Rogers Group, will be converting the intersection west of Scottsboro in Jackson County to a restricted crossing U-turn intersection.

The intersection crossover is expected to be closed Wednesday, April 14.

Additionally, ALDOT says through and left-turn movements from Alabama 79 will not be permitted. Instead, motorists should make a right turn onto U.S. 72 followed by a U-turn. According to ALDOT, U-turn lanes have been constructed to accommodate this permanent change.

Left turns from U.S. 72 to Alabama 79 will be temporarily restricted while work in the median crossover is completed. This work is expected to be completed in two weeks. Similarly, ALDOT advises that motorists can make U-turns to reach Alabama 79.
