Stay Alert! Weather radio serving most of the Tennessee Valley out of service

The National Weather Service says crews are working to get the transmitter restored as soon as possible.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The National Weather Service reporting that a weather radio transmitter serving most of the Tennessee Valley is down. 

The outage was first reported around seven Thursday morning.  The agency says they are working with technicians to restore the transmitter as soon as possible.

IMPACTED COUNTIES (ALABAMA):

  • Jackson 
  • Lawrence
  • Limestone
  • Madison
  • Marshall
  • Morgan 

IMPACTED COUNTIES (TENNESSEE):

  • Giles
  • Lincoln 

If you live in any of the impacted counties you're asked to find other ways to stay weather aware. 

The National Weather Service suggests tuning into Arab WNG-642 (162.525 MHz) or Fort Payne WWF-44 (162.500 MHz) until the Huntsville Weather Radio Transmitter is restored.
