HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Some North Alabama schools and businesses are delaying, closing, or changing their schedules due to the threat of severe weather. Check back for updates.
Redstone Arsenal: Due to inbound severe weather and in consideration of safety, the U.S. Army Garrison Redstone Arsenal will release its personnel tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 16) at 1 p.m. Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation activities, i.e., child development centers, fitness centers, etc., will close by 1 p.m. Fox Army Health Clinic will close at 1 p.m. Only life/health/safety related Garrison services will remain after 1 p.m.
Tenant organizations' commanders and directors will make determinations for their workforce and invoke their own telework and liberal leave policies. Key and Essential personnel status will be directed by their respective command teams. All employees should be in close contact with their supervisors to ensure they have the latest information and instructions and should report their status to their supervisors on a regular basis for accountability.
Gates will observe regular hours for OUTBOUND traffic. Gate 9 will remain open 24/7 for emergency traffic only. All other gates will be closed.
Marshall Space Flight Center: Dismissing at 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2023.
Redstone Federal Credit Union: Due to the threat of severe weather, Redstone Federal Credit Union branches in Alabama and Tennessee will close today, February 16, 2023, at 2:30 p.m.

City of Huntsville: Due to the threat of severe weather, City of Huntsville offices will close at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 16.
Huntsville Municipal Court will also suspend night court and driving school. The court will send rescheduling information to anyone affected by the closure.
Huntsville Transit will suspend fixed-route and paratransit operations at 5 p.m., with the last Orbit fixed-route buses departing the transfer station at 4 p.m. All Access paratransit clients will be returned home before service ends.
All Parks & Recreation facilities will also close at 3 p.m. Afternoon and evening activities have been canceled.

City of Madison: Due to the inclement weather, city offices and facilities will be closing early at 3pm today, February the 16th. Please stay safe and weather aware.
Arab City Schools: Arab City Schools will dismiss 2 hours early, tomorrow, February 16th, 2023 due to the threat of severe weather. There will be no after school activities. Please stay safe and weather aware.
Albertville City Schools: Albertville City Schools will dismiss early on Thursday, Feb. 16. AKPK and Albertville Intermediate School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. Albertville Primary, Elementary, Middle and High Schools will dismiss at 1 p.m. All afternoon activities will be cancelled as well.
Athens City Schools: Athens City Schools will implement e-Learning on Thursday, February 16. There will be no in-person classes.
Athens State University: Due to the potential for severe weather, Athens State University's physical campuses will be closed tomorrow, February 16th. Classes will be transitioned to online instruction, and all campus events for 2/16 have been cancelled.
Boaz City Schools: Due to the threat of inclement weather, Boaz City Schools will release at 1:00PM tomorrow, Thursday, February 16th. At 1:00, busses will begin running and all car riders, walkers, and drivers will be dismissed. All extended-day services will be canceled on Thursday, February 16th.

Calhoun Community College: Due to the threat of severe weather conditions, all Calhoun classes will switch to virtual learning, and employees will work remotely on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Colbert County Schools: Due to the likelihood of severe storms, Colbert County Schools will transition to an E-Learning Day for Thursday, February 16, 2023. Assignments will be provided by teachers accordingly.
Cullman County Schools: Cullman County Schools will be on a remote learning schedule on Thursday 2/16/2023.
Decatur City Schools: DCS will be virtual tomorrow, Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Florence City Schools will be closed on Thursday, February 16, 2023, due to the increased chance of inclement weather.
Franklin County (AL) Schools: After-school programs and academic tutoring are cancelled and all other after-school activities will end by 4:15 today (Feb. 15, 2023) and schools will be closed tomorrow (Feb. 16, 2023).
Guntersville City Schools: Please be advised that tomorrow, Thursday, February 16, 2023, Guntersville City Schools will dismiss at 1:00P.M.
Huntsville City Schools: Out of an abundance of caution, all Huntsville City Schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 16 due to the threat of severe weather.
Jackson County Schools: Due to the threat of severe weather tomorrow, Thursday, February 16, 2023 ALL Jackson County Schools will be closed.
Kilby Laboratory School: Closed Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Lauderdale County Schools: No school Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Lawrence County Schools: VIRTUAL LEARNING DAY February 16, 2023 due to forecasted severe weather. This decision has been made considering many factors including the window for the severe weather. Students will be provided with assignments for tomorrow. A school cast will be made later this afternoon.
Limestone County Schools: Due to the threat of severe weather, all Limestone County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, February 16. All after school activities will be cancelled as well. Please stay safe and stay weather aware.
Madison Academy: Closed Thurs., Feb. 16, 2023.
Madison City Schools: Due to the severe weather threat for Thursday, Feb. 16th - including the potential for tornadoes, hail, flooding and power outages - Madison City Schools will have a virtual day tomorrow.
Madison County Schools: Due to the timing of the storms, and the potential severity, we have made the decision to close campuses on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Marshall County Schools: Due to severe weather forecasted for tomorrow, Thursday, February 16th, 2023, Marshall County Schools will dismiss students at 12:30 pm. All after-school activities are cancelled.
Morgan County Schools: Based upon guidance provided by the National Weather Service all Morgan County School students will have remote instruction on Thursday, February 16th, and Friday, February 17th. All school campuses and offices will be closed on Thursday, February 16th. All Employees will report to campus on Friday, February 17th as previously scheduled.
Muscle Shoals City Schools: Due to the possibility of severe weather throughout the day on Thursday, February 16, 2023, the Muscle Shoals City Schools will be CLOSED.
Northwest-Shoals Community College: Due to the threat of severe weather, Northwest-Shoals Community College will close campus-based operations tomorrow, Thursday, February 16th. Classes will operate in a virtual format.
OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute at UAH: Due to the threat of severe weather OLLI at UAH courses are CANCELLED for Thursday, February 16, 2023. Staff will work with instructors on possible make-up sessions.
OLLI Alabama Shares courses presented by The Univeristy of Alabama and Auburn University will still meet virtually on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Russellville City Schools: Due to the threat of severe weather this evening, Champs Camp and our 21st Century Afterschool Program has been cancelled today for West Elementary and Russellville Elementary. All extracurricular activities must be completed and have students off campus by 4:15pm this evening.

Scottsboro City Schools: Scottsboro City Schools will transition to eLearning for Thursday, February 16th, 2023, due to the potential for severe weather throughout the day. All students, faculty, and staff will work from home using the same eLearning day procedures as used throughout the 2022-2023 school year.
Sheffield City Schools: Due to the threat of severe weather, Sheffield City Schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, February 16, 2023.
Tuscumbia City Schools: Due to the threat of potential severe weather impacting the area throughout the day Thursday, February 16th, all Tuscumbia City Schools and after-school programs will be canceled February 16, 2023.
UAH: Closed February 16, 2023.
University of North Alabama: Due to inclement weather, UNA will pivot to the Hy-Flex learning model for Thursday, February 16, 2023 with all courses transitioning to the Canvas platform. Individual managers—in consultation with their respective Executive Council members—will determine remote work implementation on a case-by-case basis. As an FCS-affiliated school, Kilby Laboratory School will be closed.
