Thanksgiving, More Rain, and Very Cold

Beyond Thanksgiving will be more rain and the coldest air we've seen this season

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Behind a cold front will be a beautiful Thanksgiving across the Tennessee Valley. High pressure settles in along with some drier air that will allow us to enjoy plenty of sunshine. We'll start the day in the mid and upper 40s. Fantastic if you're one of those that likes to go out and run in the morning on Thanksgiving. Temperatures will climb into the low and mid-60s. It'll be quite nice if you plan to have your family dinner outside.

Black Friday will continue to be nice across North Alabama. We should get to enjoy a fair amount of sunshine and temperatures will climb into the mid and even upper 60s. An average high temperature is right around 60-degrees. While Black Friday does look to be dry there is an opportunity for rain as we approach the weekend.

By the time we get to Friday night another cold front will move through the Tennessee Valley. This cold front will not have a huge impact on our sensible weather, but we could see a couple of showers Friday night and Saturday morning. Most of Saturday looks dry, but a little cooler with temperatures finishing the day in the mid and upper 50s.

Then we get to Sunday. Sunday will see the development of our next system. This systems comes in the form of an area of low pressure that will develop over SE Texas and move north. This has the opportunity to bring significant rain and even a couple of light snow showers to the Tennessee Valley.

Many are looking at the potential for 1.0"-3.0" by the time we get to next Tuesday. Tuesday is December 1st. We were on track to have one of the driest Novembers on record, but that chance has all but disappeared with the rain in the forecast.

Now behind this system is some incredibly cold air. This air move into the Tennessee Valley late Sunday and then through Monday and Tuesday of next week. By that point, we'll be talking about low temperatures in the 20s.

Now there is a chance of snow. Depending on the track of the low and how quickly the cold air moves in we could see a couple of very light snow showers Monday or Tuesday. This would be low to no impact across the Tennessee Valley.
