HUNTSVILLE, Ala — A new Winter Storm Warning in effect for NW Alabama means that more cold and icy road conditions could occur from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
WINTER WEATHER ROAD CONDITIONS:
From ALDOT: The Alabama Department of Transportation and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency advise motorists that freezing rain will likely coat roads with ice in north and west-central Alabama beginning tonight. Furthermore, much of the state will experience freezing temperatures over the next few days which could produce widespread “black ice” conditions.
If you have to drive, drive slowly, leave plenty of room, and keep an eye out for hazards.
The Madison County Police Department said they are beginning to see roadways ice over, especially on overpasses and on Interstate 565.

As weather conditions deteriorate, road conditions are expected to worsen with accumulations of ice. But roads are not the only concern. Expect sidewalks, stairs, and parking lots to be icy, too.
