HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — One Huntsville church is keeping its kitchen open to serve the community.
This Tuesday, St. John AME Church will serve free sack lunches from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. The church does this every third and fourth Tuesday of every month.
They're located on 229 Church Street. The soup kitchen normally has a table set up for people to sit down and eat.
Now, people will have to pick up their lunches at the door due to Coronavirus concerns.
Volunteers say everyone is welcome.
"We have young kids, we have older. No matter what their race, everybody comes in. We have a lot of seniors that come in. Some that can't make it, they will call in, and say 'My friend is going to pick up me a meal. Will you give them a meal for me?' - and we will do that," said Stephanie Scott, head over the St. John AME Soup Kitchen Ministry.
The church also does Thanksgiving and Christmas giveaways.
