HUNTSVILLE, Ala. —
Athens-Limestone County leaders give an update on the latest in their area during Friday afternoon's press conference.
There are three COVID-19 patients in the ICU of Athens-Limestone Hospital.
The county has tested over 800 people-- more than 50 people are waiting on test results. But, officials are reporting a drop in the number of people coming to its “Fever and Flu” Clinic. Originally, around 60-70 people would come to be tested a day. Now less than 15 are seen on average.
The county took the time to address any discrepancies between their reported number of positive cases and what’s seen on the ADPH website.
David Prior of Athens-Limestone Hospital says, “Limestone County residents that may go to a neighboring location. That’s Morgan County or Madison County and get tested positive… The state reports based on the home address of the individual who got tested. So that’s the discrepancy in those numbers." Prior adds, "We report 34 positive cases because those were confirmed in our hospitals... ADPH says 40 cases."
Even with all the changes, school system leaders have provided 35,000 lunches to students and will keep doing so until the end of the year.
Officials are still preparing for school to start in the fall and say parents can register their little ones for kindergarten and apply to Limestone County Schools online.
