MADISON, Alabama — Sitting at 337,000 square feet, this facility will have the capacity to sort 9,600 packages per hour.
Not only that... but this facility will also open up many job opportunities here in The Valley.
"This will bring somewhere in about 120 jobs in this area and that high-quality jobs obviously. The great thing for Madison is they're not taking away from anything that's already here, there are already two or three facilities right now that are full," said Madison Mayor Paul Finley. "So, it's more jobs in Madison, that means that there are jobs that are here during the day, many times folks go away and then come back. It's daytime traffic that makes a big difference for our community."
FedEx Ground is constantly hiring and the company encourages anyone interested to apply here. FedEx offers competitive pay, benefits, education assistance, development programs and a strong promote-within-culture that creates opportunities to turn a job into a career.
"Having strong companies that can provide you know, 401ks and benefits and time off and the ability to promote from within, this is really a company that invests in its people and having strong companies that invest in their people within our city is a top priority for the Madison Chamber of Commerce for economic development, but also to let our citizens plant their roots and continue their careers at the same facility for life," said Executive Director of the Madison Chamber of Commerce, Michelle Epling.
In light of the accelerated growth of e-commerce during the pandemic, FedEx continues to make significant investments in its people, capacity and technology - particularly here in Northern Alabama.
"This is a project that's taken a while to happen, but it's happening because of the growth that's happening in our community. You know, obviously with what's happening with internet purchasing, FedEx Ground is critical to the economy. Talking to them right now, 40% of what they have coming in here is being brought someplace else because they don't have the room to make things happen. So this gives them 300,000 plus square feet, which will truly make a difference for the communities and businesses here in Madison," said Finley.
