HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Animal Services announced that they made some progress in reducing the number of animals in its shelter over the weekend after declaring a "state of emergency" due to capacity issues last week.

In a statement on Monday, Huntsville Animal Services expressed gratitude to the community for their support and participation in the adoption efforts.

"Huntsville Animal Services is thrilled to report that 65 dogs and 10 cats found loving homes over the weekend, thanks to the incredible support of our community.

Every adoption makes a significant difference, and we are grateful for each family that opened their hearts and homes to one of our shelter pets. However, our work is far from over.

We continue to rely on the community to help prevent overcrowding by spaying and neutering their pets. Additionally, fostering provides a lifeline to many animals, giving them a temporary, nurturing environment while they await adoption."
