HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — There's no cancelling science; One Oakwood University chemistry lab coordinator is streaming it.
'Joy for STEM' is a tutoring program, and for the first time founder Joy Hodnett streamed a lesson on Facebook about colors, ph levels, and using red cabbage juice to identify an acid or a base.
Hodnett says it's a fun and easy activity for kids and parents. Materials include things normally found in your home.
Hodnett says it's important for kids to get early exposure to STEM.
"If we expose children young, so that they have joy and excitement for it - then in the future we can prevent, or at least help the issues that we have when it comes to science, by not making the same mistakes again from learning from our past," says Hodnett.
Hodnett plans to stream the STEM class every other Sunday and will cover different topics that relate to STEM.
