In the first three days that the library offered curb-side pickup, they checked out over 16,000 items.
Organizers say they are even considering continuing this system after the pandemic ends.
They’re taking extra steps to make sure everyone is safe by making sure each item is safe to be given to the next user.
We spoke with Melanie Thornton, Director of Public Relations with Huntsville Madison County Public Library. Thornton says, “We consulted with the CDC and public health officials and they said if we quarantine our items for 24 hours, that is the best practice that libraries can use moving forward.”
In order to participate in the curbside pick-up, you have to have a library card and it’s not too late to get one .
Apply for a library card here.
