Scam Alert: False claims to return lost pets in Huntsville

HAS officials stress they never charge for reuniting pets and urge residents to report suspicious calls.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Animal Services is warning residents about a scam targeting pet owners who have lost their pets.

According to their social media post, reports have emerged of someone reaching out to people who posted online about their missing pets, pretending to represent Animal Services and asking for money in exchange for returning the animals.

Animal Services stresses that they will never ask for money to reunite pets with their owners. Officials advise against providing any personal information or payment if you receive such a call or message.

“If you receive such a call or message, do not provide any personal information or payment. Instead, contact us directly to report the incident and verify any communication regarding your pet,” the post states.
