HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Salvation Army of Huntsville is calling on the community to help beyond the holiday season. While many step forward to volunteer during the holidays, the organization depends on dedicated volunteers year-round to support families and individuals in need.
“Volunteers are the true Army behind The Salvation Army,” said Major Joseph May. “Their ongoing commitment allows us to continue our mission to serve those in need, not just during the holidays but every day.”

Last year, The Salvation Army in Huntsville served over 71,000 hot meals, provided more than 20,600 nights of shelter, and helped thousands more through essential programs. But these efforts rely on volunteers who give their time throughout the year to serve meals, distribute food and clothing, and assist with fundraising.
The organization offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, including:
- Meal Service: Assist in serving meals to those facing hunger or homelessness.
- Distribution Assistance: Help collect and distribute clothing, food, and other essentials.
- Fundraising: Participate in events like the Red Kettle Campaign to support year-round services.
