ATHENS, Ala. — An Athens man was arrested by the Limestone County Sheriff's Department (LCSO) on Tuesday, Oct. 6, for charges relating to domestic violence.
According to LCSO, the charges related to an altercation that took place on Sept. 19 in which 29-year-old Corey Burnside allegedly held his girlfriend and another man at gunpoint and assaulted the man.
Burnside was charged with third-degree domestic violence (reckless endangerment), third-degree domestic violence (menacing), second-degree assault and menacing, according to LCSO. He was released from the Limestone County Jail on Tuesday on a $27,500 bond.
The victims told investigators Burnside was angry after reading text messages between the two and was pointing a handgun at the man before striking him in the head with the gun. The man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

LCSO said the investigation is still open and additional charges are possible.
