MORGAN COUNTY, Alabama — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office is getting ready to reopen.
Since they were forced to close in March, they decided to do some remodeling in the lobby and upstairs. When visitors are allowed back in, they'll get to enjoy the updates.
The sheriff's office hopes to open back up to the public in the next seven to ten days.
Once they reopen, they say they will continue with safety protocols and social distancing guidelines in place.
Morgan County Sheriff's Office PIO, Mike Swafford, said, "We still have to protect the 600 inmates that are in there, plus the 180 staff that work there, so our protocols as far as taking temperatures, screening at the door, segregating anybody that possibly has any symptoms, that's all going to go on and probably be more important now."
They say they will continue to evaluate when it's safe to reopen to the public.
