HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Growth continues in the Rocket City! Navistar Huntsville held a ribbon cutting for powertrain production plant's 110,000 sq. ft. expansion. Navistar Huntsville powertrain team Operations Director Brandon Tucker said this has been a long time in the making. "Super exciting what we're doing here today. We've been working on this new integrated powertrain project for over five years, probably closer to seven years."
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle believes the Navistar plant has always been a promising addition for the city. "We've gone from 120 employees to 240 employees today. It's a great day for the city of Huntsville. "
Tucker adds that they take the money they've been given by the city very seriously. "We try to be good stewards of that and the employee is here. they see what we're investing and they know this is a long term commitment. So they're very excited about what's going on. "
Tucker also believes this expansion serves a real tangible need at the powertrain operations. "We went from a single assembly line, pretty much a single engine assembly line to two major assembly lines, an engine line and a transmission line, as well as three major machining lines. So the expansion was necessary for us to be able to house all of this in the building. so we had to have it. we needed it. But it's it's a big difference in the production that we had originally here. We needed the space for all the new lines," he continued.
