HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Hospital is partnering with Athens State University to give all employees a discounted rate, or an application waiver to the university.
"It's a learning partnership between Athens State and the Huntsville Hospital system, Huntsville Hospital COO and President Tracy Doughty said. "The partnership gives us a ten percent tuition discount on all classes for our employees, our employee's parents, our employee's spouses, and our employee's children."
Nearly sixteen thousand Huntsville Hospital employees and their families will be able to take advantage of the financial incentives being offered by Athens State.
Employees don't have to focus on degrees in the medical field and still receive financial assistance. They can choose any subject to focus on and even get free access to Athens State lab tutors.
It's super easy for them to apply. Dr. Mark Reynolds, Chief Nurse Administrator, says, "There's a simple waiver form that needs to be completed in human resources by someone at their facility and returned to us, and we will process that on our end."
Employee shortages are happening across the country and there are over a thousand open job positions in the Huntsville Hospital System. Reynolds says, "The workforce continues to move forward, and as our area grows we need to diversify our workforce, and anytime they can get additional training or additional skills it's a win-win for the employee and the hospital.
There is no limit to the number of applications Athens State University will consider.
