HUNTSVILLE, Ala — Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner and Alabamians are ready to honor our nation's fall service members.
Here are some events in the Huntsville/Tennessee Valley area going on this Memorial Day Weekend.
Athens-Limestone County Memorial Day 2021 Ceremony
The Alabama Veterans Museum & Archives in Athens welcomes you for their Memorial Day Program on May 31, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
They are honored to have MG Robert A. Rasch Jr., Program Executive Officer, Program Executive Office, Missiles and Space, as their guest speaker.
The museum will be honoring the fallen Veterans since last Memorial Day.
The event will be held in their new location (former Limestone Co. Event Center, across the parking lot from old museum) at 114 Pryor St W, Athens, AL 35611.
Colbert County Memorial Day 2021 Ceremony
The Colbert County Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on May 31 at the Colbert County Courthouse, located at 201 North Main Street in Tuscumbia.
The event is free and will start at 11 a.m.
Huntsville Memorial Day 2021 Ceremony
The Annual Huntsville Memorial Day Ceremony will take place on May 31 at the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial Park on Monroe Street in Downtown Huntsville.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. and will feature guest speaker Lt. Gen. Donnie Walker, the deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Materiel Command and Team Redstone senior commander.
Florence-Lauderdale County 2021 Memorial Day Ceremony
The Florence-Lauderdale County Memorial Day Ceremony will take place on May 31 at the Veterans Memorial, located at 100 Veterans Park Drive in Florence.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. and the Fallen Heroes Memorial recognizing 225 local heroes by name will be opened following the ceremony. The ceremony will feature several speakers who will honor fallen service members, veterans and the nation.
