Toyota Alabama partners with Ride United to provide free rides to those in need

Ride United offers free rides to individuals who need extra help going to school, work or attending medical appointments.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Toyota Alabama has partnered with United Way of Madison County's Ride United program to offer free rides to those in need.

Ride United offers free rides to individuals who need extra help going to school, work or attending medical appointments. So far, the program has been offered to 46 people and more than 2,900 rides have been given.

"Over the last few months I was able to get my diabetes under control because I had a way to get my insulin, I was able to continue my recovery treatment from my eating disorder which successfully completed treatment," said Ride United participant Jake McKinney.

"It changed my life because then at that exact place that we met they were talking about United Way, and it was like, it drives you from school from home to school and potentially school to work," said Ride United Participant Joseph Galloway.

In addition to free rides, all participants of the program are eligible for full-time jobs at Toyota with more than minimum wage pay and immediate benefits.
