HUNTSVILLE, Ala. —
Decatur Police confirms that Carson Peters and April Hanner have been arrested and are in custody, during a press conference Tuesday evening.
Carson Ray Peters and April Hanner are the suspects in the deadly shooting in Danville Sunday night. Three people were killed.
It is not confirmed at this point whether or not April Hanner was present during the shooting.
Police identified the victims of Sunday evening's shooting as 55-year-old James Edward Miller of Lacey’s Springs, 54-year-old Teresa Lynn Peters of Danville, and 50-year-old Tammy Renee Smith of Danville. Miller was the boyfriend of Tammy Smith.
Decatur Police confirms, the fourth victim, Mary Kennedy, mother of Teresa and Tammy, is currently in stable condition at Huntsville Hospital, where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
After turning himself into U.S. Marshals at Decatur's River Walk Marina, Peters is in custody in Morgan County Jail facing charges of three counts of capital murder. According to Chief Allen, the Marshals tracked Peters down and he chose a location to meet to surrender himself.
According to Decatur Police Chief, Nate Allen, Carson Peters hid from law enforcement for nearly 48 hours. Chief Allen adds, this was potentially with the assistance of April Hanner, who has been identified as Peters’ “significant other” by the police department and allegedly was in contact with Peters during this time.
The Decatur Police Department issued warrants for April Hanner for assisting Peters in hiding from law enforcement. She was arrested in Piedmont, Alabama.
Hanner faces a charge of Hindering Prosecution in the first degree. Chief Allen confirms she could face additional charges.
Hanner will be held at the Morgan County Jail.
Chief Allen confirms the motive behind the shooting appears to be a domestic incident.
