MADISON, Ala. — Wondering how Thanksgiving will affect your trash pickup schedule? Find out what you need to know about service delays this holiday season.
City of Madison
Trash and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day in the City of Madison on Thursday, Nov. 28, due to the holiday.
- Green bin garbage collection will be delayed by one day.
- Republic Services, which handles yard debris and curbside pickup, will be closed on Thanksgiving and will not make up the Thursday route.
- City officials urge residents to plan accordingly for these changes.
City of Athens
City offices in Athens will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29.
- There will be no garbage pickup on Thursday, Nov. 28.
- Thursday’s pickup will be rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 29.
- Friday’s pickup will be rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30.
- Residents are reminded to have their bins at the curb by 6 a.m. for these adjusted pickup times.
City of Huntsville
There will be no residential garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection on Thursday, Nov. 28.
- Thursday’s pickup will be collected on Friday, Nov. 29.
- All collections for the week will be delayed by one day, with regular Monday pickups occurring on Tuesday.
- Residents are reminded to place their bins at the curb the evening before the next business day.
City of Florence
There will be no garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection on Thursday, Nov. 28.
- Thursday’s collection will take place on Friday, Nov. 29.
- Friday’s collection will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30.
- Residents are reminded to please have garbage at the street by 7 a.m. on your collection day.
City of Decatur
When a holiday falls on your regularly scheduled garbage pickup day, it is generally rescheduled for the following day, with the exception of Fridays, which will be rescheduled for the following Monday.
- For Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28, collection will be rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 29.
- Friday's collection will be rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 2.

City of Guntersville
Residential garbage collection will be two days early.
- All citywide recycling will be picked up on Monday, Nov. 25.
- Thursday pickup will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

- Gunters Landing will remain on their regular garbage pickup schedule.
- Residents are reminded to have their garbage out by 5 a.m.
