Alabama A&M will open 2021 season at South Carolina State

Connell Maynor and the Alabama A&M Bulldogs will kick off their spring football schedule with a trip to South Carolina State.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Following the postponement of his team's season opener at Mississippi Valley State on Monday, Alabama A&M head football coach Connell Maynor began searching for a new opponent. By the middle of the week, he had a replacement.

Today, South Carolina State announced that they will host Alabama A&M on Saturday in Orangeburg, South Carolina at 1:30 PM/12:30 PM Central.

This will be the first matchup between the two sets of Bulldogs since 2013. South Carolina State beat Alabama A&M, 32-0 that season.

Alabama A&M head football coach Connell Maynor faced off against South Carolina State when he was the head coach of the Hampton Pirates. He held a 1-3 record against SCSU.

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs have not played yet this spring. Their first game against Alcorn State was canceled after the Braves opted out.
