HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — From the warrior pose to silk ropes, yoga helps students practice mindfulness and could provide health benefits to people of all ages. There are more than 100 different types, or schools, of yoga; most sessions include breathing exercises, meditation, and assuming postures, sometimes called asana or poses, that stretch and flex various muscle groups.
Huntsville's Light on Yoga holds over 30 classes per week with students ages 13 to over 80 and hosts donation-based group sessions at Big Spring Park. Light on Yoga's co-owner Conner Humphrey says that besides inner peace, there are health benefits through the poses, "Not only does it help endorphins, calms nervous system, blood pressure, and strengthen and tone."
