COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. — The Colbert County Animal Shelter is urgently asking the community for help in finding homes for more than 160 dogs and puppies currently in their care.
In a recent social media post, the shelter reported that due to the high number of animals, many are housed in crates, lined along walls, in side rooms, outside, and in kennels.
"We don’t want them to live this way," a shelter representative stated. "They all deserve better living arrangements."
If you are unable to adopt, there are other ways to help. The shelter is looking for volunteers to walk the dogs and participate in their doggy day out program. However, due to the high number of animals, the shelter cannot hold dogs for potential adopters.
The shelter noted, "We have a lot of dogs that need to be only dogs but lots of dog friendly pups as well!"
