Huntsville will host the 2022 Paralympics Cycling Open

Mayor Tommy Battle announced the news in a press conference on Wednesday.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — the city of Huntsville announced that the 2022 Paralympics Cycling Open will happen in Huntsville again this year.

The event is presented by Toyota and Mayor Tommy Battle is excited to welcome visitors into Huntsville.

 "We are excited to announce today that Huntsville will welcome back these athletes and many more this April as we host the next US Paralympics Cycling Open," Mayor Battle explained. "It will be presented by Toyota on April 8th, 9th and 10th."

All of the events are free and there will even be food trucks and other amenities. 

"Good luck to each of you as you train and prepare for this race, and we look forward to putting our best foot forward from Huntsville, to welcome you to the area as you go for the gold," Jason Puckett, President of Toyota Alabama.

Here’s what to expect on the three event days:

  • Friday, April 8: Hand-cycle Relays around Big Spring Park, downtown
  • Saturday, April 9: Time Trials in Cummings Research Park
  • Sunday, April 10: Road Races in Cummings Research Park
