Local food truck owner gives back to North Huntsville

A food truck that opened during the height of the pandemic is using his platform to give back.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — If you've been in Huntsville for a while, you've seen food trucks all around the city. One local man who started a food truck business is now using the proceeds to help children in need.

Calvin 'Big Swagg' Jones is the owner of 'Big Swagg Chicken and Fish', in North Huntsville.

Jones started his food truck journey last year during the pandemic and he's excited that Rocket City is loving his southern dishes. Most of the truck's proceeds go towards a back-to-school drive for children that Jones has been putting on for a couple of years.

"[We're] trying to do a lot of the community," Jones said. "Actually, we take some of the proceeds that we make here on this truck and we do a back to school giveaway every year. This is our second year doing it."

Jones operates the restaurant with the help of his 6-year-old daughter, Makaylee Jones. She says her favorite foods on the menu are the fish and fries. Jones also encourages everyone to "shop Big Swagg' and support her dad.
