UPDATE: Crash victims released from hospital

A suspect in the pursuit and crash has been arrested and all four crash victims are recovering.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — UPDATE: Hunter Thomas Rollins, 23, of Huntsville for his involvement in a police pursuit and crash that occurred April 13 in Huntsville.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Two state troopers and two civilians injured when a crash occurred during a pursuit involving state troopers and a motorcyclist have been released from the hospital.

At about 3:00 p.m. on April 13, state troopers attempted to stop a red motorcycle on U.S. 72 near Shields Road. When the motorcycle refused to pull over, troopers started a pursuit.

According to ALEA, at the intersection of Jordan Lane and Holmes Avenue, an ALEA Trooper vehicle and a Honda Civic collided. The Trooper vehicle overturned and caught fire. Two other vehicles, a Dodge Charger and a Honda Accord, were struck as a result of the first collision. Two ALEA Troopers, the driver of the Accord and a passenger in the Dodge Charger were transported to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and have been released.

The motorcyclist evaded arrest, and suspects are being sought. ALEA’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash with the assistance of ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation. Investigators are following up on several leads.
