MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — The patriarch of the Tate family, William "Homer" Tate passed away on Tuesday, October 31 at the age of 95. Tate was born in 1928, where he went on to raise four sons on the well-known Tate Farms that his family built. Starting in 1996, a 15 acres of pumpkins, a fall farm entertainment business was introduced. Now the operation includes over 80 acres of pumpkin fields and over 20 acres of events for children and families.
"Homer was a cornerstone in the agriculture community, deacon emeritus at Flint River Baptist Church, and had a servant’s heart for others. We are grieving as a family, but find great comfort that he is in God’s presence," the family said, in a post on Facebook.
