Want a virtual tour of Historic Downtown Madison? There's an app for that!

The app was unveiled on November 13 in Downtown Madison.

MADISON, Alabama — A group of organizations and businesses have created an app that gives visitors a virtual tour of Historic Downtown Madison.

The app was officially unveiled on November 13, and you can download it using your phone's app store. In the search bar type 'PocketSites Tour Guide' and find the Downtown Madison option.

Rotary Club of Madison,- Sunset Group, the Madison Visionary Partners, the Madison Station Historical Preservation Society and the Girl Scouts of North Alabama all came together to create a new tool to get the city noticed.

The app includes detailed information about the background of each of the stores and businesses on the map. It even has recordings explaining the history of the locations.

Finley Koswoski, 15, of James Clemens High School is a local girl scout and she helped create the app in order to receive a Girl Scout badge. Koswoski says it took her over one hundred hours to gather the information.

"I think it will add to a lot of Madison's family-friendliness and I think it'll just be fun for families to like get outside and enjoy," Koswoski said.

This new technological edition is a part of a greater effort to modernize the Tennessee Valley as major cities continue to grow.
